Finally

After months reading and learning on stock market investment and observing the market, finally today I made the plunge. Just bought 4,000 shares of Fajarbaru Builders Group Bhd's stocks.

Was not in my watch list, but still proceeded with the purchase. Seems like a good prospect. In fact Kenanga research also has a buy status for this counter. They are bidding for the new LCCT project and if they win the contract, I'm pretty sure it's price will soar.

But as of now, the counter has dropped by 4 cents from my purchase price. A bit unnerving, but I'll try my best not to panic, get tough and put more confidence into it.

Foreign exchange trading

To all friends, I'm posting this as a reminder to all who're into this forex trading or thinking of doing it. I know, it has promised very good returns. In fact training and seminars are being advertised openly in newspapers.

But it remain an illegal activity to do in Malaysia, to trade foreign currency, no matter how, no matter what. And in the news today: Bank Negara warns against illegal foreign currency trading

Knowing BNM, when they issued that kind of statement, it means, get ready. We're going to get you NOW! Same like all those quick rich schemes. There were so many raids done by BNM last year. Many were caught andcharged in court. And also knowing BNM, we're very efficient at doing this. We just needed time to carefully study before we start our move since we do not want to be on the losing side.

So please friends, stay away from such activity.

Congrats to my Boss!

... hehehe

In thestar.com.my today: http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2008/11/16/business/20081116165559&sec=business

Dr. Zeti selected to be part of a reform committee at UN. She's my big, big, big boss (now you all know where I work).

But she's a really nice boss & very, very knowledgeable in what she's doing.

Hope she can influence some changes to the global economic situation now.

Global Crisis

I think many are unaware of this situation. For those who read the papers & watch the news, probably have known about the Lehman Brothers & Merril Lynch issue. Those are two big names in the financial industry, and they've failed recently stemming from the credit turmoil in US. And even AIG, which I guess people know as the name printed on MU's jersey, is also in big trouble.

And today in our internal portal, we have the news that almost everywhere in the world, central banks are scrambling to pour money into their financial system to avoid deeper problem. Read the full article here: http://www.reuters.com/article/innovationNews/idUSSP26879920080916?sp=true

To be frank, I'm not an economist and in fact, never studied Economy. I have only just the slightest idea of what teh article is all about. But even by the tone of it, one can feel it doesn't sound good. It points of a big trouble ahead.

But we Malaysians are more concerned about 16/9? I guess we all have our attention at the wrong issue. Because if we have a financial system breakdown, no matter who is in charge in Putrajaya, we'll all be in trouble. Well, unless the person himself has a cash reserve as deep as Bill Gates and contribute big time to the economy. If not, it'll all be just empty promises again.

But I'm sure my colleagues over at the Economics department are focused on their job. Please do.
