What's up with us?

Nowadays you can get sued by cancelling an engagement...

We're becoming more and more like in the US where you can get sued just by sneezing in the elevator. A blatant misuse of the legal system. I would say, the legal system has other more important issues to deal with rather than petty issues like this. During courtship time, everything is nice and happy, then when things turn ugly, go to court, for something as personal as a marriage *sigh*

so marriage is a petty thing to you?

marriage is not petty. i've never said that.

but the fact of dragging an issue related to a failed marraige proposal is petty. unless there's a written agreement being signed by both party related to the marriage proposal and one party is of clear breach of it, then the issue may be brought to the court.

but without that, a marriage proposal is no more than a promise between two people who're supposedly in love with each other. and a failed one is no more than a broken promise. why would it need to be dragged to the court instead? the judiciary system should focus on the more important things instead, not something as personal as a broken marriage promise.

this case is a blatant case on insincerity of both parties. the girl insincere in marrying the guy. and the guy insincere in giving the gifts to the girl. and they're supposed to be in love with each other?

what's next? suing your friend for not turning up at the mamak for EPL game?
